Frequently asked questions

App or server crashes:

The app is crashing right when I load it up. What is going on?

We have several fixes that will prevent this from happening, but in 1.06 this may still occur. However, the problem extends beyond just our own application. With Apple's recent iOS 4.2 update, multi-tasking is now possible on the iPad. However, the hardware itself still has the same limited resources. All running applications have to share the same resources, and when there aren't enough, the latest app to be loaded will crash.

Close all your running multi-tasked applications, or reboot your iPad. If that doesn't work, email us: support {at} everyair dot net and we'll help you out.

When I load up the everyAir server console on my computer it immediately closes. Help!

Very high resolution (5000x5000+) monitor setups are currently unsupported. A majority of people won't be affected except those with 3+ monitor setups. Try resizing your desktop to a slightly smaller resolution. We'd like to hear about your configuration, so please email us: support {at} everyair dot net.

Connection troubleshooting:

What is an IP address, and how do I find mine?

Every connected computer on the Internet has an address that's required for proper communication. You can find your computer's address in the lower left corner of the everyAir server console. It's the group of four numbers that are separated by a period (e.g. 192.168.1.5).

I'm having trouble connecting to my computer, what's wrong?

Unfortunately, this problem can be difficult to diagnose due to the wide variety of potential network configurations. However, the most common culprit is the presence of a firewall that blocks the everyAir connection. If you're having problems, feel free to email us and we're glad to help.

I'm away from my house on a different network, and I'm unable to connect.

This is a limitation in the current version of everyAir. The app only works over WiFi today. Adding full Internet support is a very important feature for us and it's something we plan to add very soon.

I just booted up a game, and my screen went black, white, or flickers on my iPad. How do I fix this?

This is due to a bug with Windows and some video card drivers. Luckily, there's an easy fix. Go into your game's video options and switch from Fullscreen to Fullscreen (Windowed). If that doesn't fix it, send us an email and we'll help.

Problems with the UI, dPad, thumbstick:

Panning is working, but pinch/zooming seems to be disabled. Why is that?

When the everyAir server is loaded, a very brief performance calibration is conducted. This scan helps ensure that your hardware is used in the most efficient manner, thereby reserving the maximum amount of resources for your other programs. In the event that your system fails to meet some particular requirements, you may find that certain features - notably pinch zooming - are disabled. This ensures a smooth experience across a broad array of hardware configurations and capabilities.

The left dPad isn't responding to my input at all. Any way to fix that?

The left dPad uses the directional arrow keys to send movement. While we plan to make that configurable in the future, in the current version you're limited to those keys. Luckily, all games can be configured to use those keys, if they aren't configured that way by default. To make sure these keys work properly, make sure you have NumLuck turned off on your keyboard. If not, the presses will be interpreted as numbers rather than the arrows.

Setup and Installation:

What are the recommended hardware and software specifications for everyAir?

everyAir is optimized to run on Windows (Windows 7, Vista, XP) and Mac OSX (Leopard, Snow Leopard). Although special attention was given to ensure a smooth experience even on lower end hardware configurations, the recommended hardware specifications are as follows:

  • Dual core 2.0 GHz processor
  • 1 GB RAM
  • OpenGL capable graphics card with 128 MB of memory
  • 16 MB available hard disk space

  • Will the everyAir server resize my desktop, install drivers, or change my computer settings?

No, a key design decision for us was to avoid a complicated install or changing your carefully set configuration. We use this software ourselves on a daily basis, particularly in a second monitor setup, and believe that consistency is crucial.

    Feedback and contact:

How can I suggest a feature?
